Head Contacts: How decisions are reached

Greater consistency from decision makers is all we want to see. 

However, when it comes to head impacts on the field, there is still debate among experts as to what constitutes a red card, yellow card or whether it’s play on.

As part of our role at International Rugby Players, we work with World Rugby officials to align all stakeholders to ensure everyone is on the same page. 

In this video, our Head of Player Welfare and Performance, former All Black Conrad Smith sits down with World Rugby referees manager Craig Joubert and Television Match Official (TMO) Brendon Pickerill to discuss several incidents and how they should be managed.
